Our weekly seminars are included if you’re taking a French course. You can also sign up for seminars only. Each seminar covers a different topic.The purpose of these seminars is to provide students with background knowledge about the linguistic diversity, colonial and anti-colonial histories, societies, cultures and social justice topics in Francophone communities.

Registered participants will receive the seminar schedule and topics via email. Attendance is highly encouraged for all French learners!

• Saturday sessions: 12pm - 1pm, November 15th - February 14th (no seminar on December 27th, January 3rd)

• Sunday sessions: 11am - 12pm, November 16th - March 1st (no seminar on December 28th, January 4th)

• Decolonizing Culture in the Francophone Post-colonies

• Quebec: A French Settler-Colony

• Living the Post-colonial World: Social Injustice in the Francophone Communities outside of France

• Gender Neutral Pronouns: Language and Gender in French Contexts

Help sessions will be held weekly on Orange Blossom Education (OBE) Discord Server, led by one of our French instructors. These sessions are a hybrid form of office hours that you may find in a university setting plus online study sessions with friends, where we hang out and practice together. Bring your questions. Get some extra exercises in. Learn new slang and natural expressions that you won’t find in a textbook. Or you can tune in to check your listening comprehension and get more exposure to the French language.

Enrolled students will receive an invitation link to join the OBE Discord Server.

• 5:00 - 7:00 PM (EST), Wednesdays, November 12th - February 11th, with Alia (no help session on December 24th and December 31st)
