    Schedule: Each course is 2 hours per week, for 10 weeks. Start date is flexible.

    Compensation:

    • $2200-3000 CAD per course taught, pending on the number of enrolled students, 3-month contract. (The teaching contract is renewable.)

    • Correcting optional homework, hosting help sessions (similar to “office hours“ in university sittings) and monitoring students’ questions on discussion forum will be paid separately, at the rate of $50CAD per hour, estimated 4-6 hours of work per week.

    Role Overview:

    Lead 10-week online Korean language courses for different levels of learners. The instructor will help students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Korean, while inviting students to reflect on the cultural and political significance of the Korean language and its linguistic diversity, exploring it across colonial histories, migration, and global Korean-speaking communities, inside and outside of the Korean Peninsula.

    Please note that there is no grading and no exams.

    Ideal Candidate should have:

    • Experience teaching Korean as a second language to adult learners, in classroom or online group class settings

    • Availability to teach students based in Eastern Time Zone

    Compensation: $1800 CAD, 3-month contract

    Role Overview:

    • Lead 10 one-hour seminar discussions for students who are learning Korean. Example discussion topics include:

      • Linguistic diversity of the Koreanic languages

      • Korean colonial history

      • Gender and sexuality in Korean contexts

      • Race and power structures

      • Migration histories of the Korean diaspora

    Ideal Candidate should have:

    • An academic, education or professional background in any related fields, such as anthropology, sociology, history, linguistics, language education, East Asian studies, gender studies, etc.

    • Strong ability to facilitate undergraduate-level discussions from an anti-imperialist and anti-colonial lens, in an engaging and informative manner

    • Availability to host seminars for students in Eastern Time Zone
