    Schedule: Each course is 2 hours per week, for 12 weeks. Start date is flexible.

    Compensation: $2500-3500 CAD per course pending on enrolment, 3-month contract

    Role Overview:

    Lead 12-week online Cantonese language courses for different levels of learners. The instructor will help students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Cantonese, while inviting students to reflect on the cultural and political significance of Cantonese, exploring it across colonial histories, migration, and global Cantonese-speaking communities.

    Please note that there is no homework grading and no exams. You can assign optional homework, but you don’t need to correct students’ homework or answer students’ questions outside of classroom teaching time. (Other part-time instructors and/or instructors in training will be assigned to provide homework correction and answer students’ questions.)

    Ideal Candidate should have:

    • Experience teaching Cantonese as a second language to adult learners, in classroom or online group class settings

    • Availability to teach students based in Eastern Time Zone

    Schedule: 1 hour per session, once per week on Zoom (up to 12 sessions in total), January to March.

    Compensation: $1800 CAD, 3-month contract

    Role Overview:

    • Lead 12 one-hour seminar discussions for students who are learning Cantonese. Example discussion topics include::

      • Cantonese language, history, culture, society and politics

      • Migration of Cantonese-speaking communities

      • Social justice issues, anti-imperialist and anti-colonial movements in Southeast Asia, China, Hongkong and Macau

    Ideal Candidate should have:

    • A background in any related fields, such as anthropology, sociology, history, linguistics, language education, East Asian studies, gender studies, etc.

    • Strong ability to facilitate engaging discussions from an anti-imperialist and anti-colonial lens

    • Availability to host seminars for students in Eastern Time Zone
